Charlie Brady, Founder and Executive Artistic Director at Carolina Theatre Workshop

CHARLIE BRADY

Founder, Executive Artistic Director

Charlie is an actor, director relocated from NYC and now resides in Raleigh with his wife, Lauren Kennedy Brady. A professional actor of almost 30 years, Charlie was a child actor in LA, went on to graduate with a BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University, then spent 17 years in New York City and performed on stages on Broadway (South Pacific, Lincoln Center Theater), Off-Broadway (The Burnt Part Boys, Playwrights Horizons/Vineyard Theatre), Equity National Tours (Mamma Mia!, Les Miserables, South Pacific) and Regional Theater across the country. His passion for new works was molded by such impactful opportunities including multiple appearances at the renowned Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, and a multitude of readings and workshops including The Burnt Part Boys (Miller & Tysen), Dogfight (Pasek & Paul), Glory Days (Nick Blaemire & James Gardiner) and Austen’s Pride (Lindsay Warren Baker & Amanda Jacobs). He brings this diverse experience to his mission of developing and showcasing new plays and musicals—from local to national levels—while working to establish the Triangle as a southeastern hub for new work and expand full-time opportunities within the industry.

Co-Artistic Director

Tim is a stage director and designer who is especially passionate about developing new works. He was a resident of NYC for 18 years where he worked as an actor, director, and theater educator, in addition to directing productions at regional theaters across the country. Tim honed his new work development skills at celebrated institutions like The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Musical Theater Festival, the NYU Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program, and various development workshops in NYC. His freelance directing first brought him to the Triangle in 2015. Inspired by the energetic and growing theater scene in the region, Tim now calls Raleigh home and is excited to be a part of shaping the future theatre landscape in the Triangle. Tim is a proud graduate of the Webster Conservatory of Theatre Arts in St. Louis, MO!

Sam Scipioni, Marketing Associate at Carolina Theatre Workshop

SAMANTHA (SAM) SCIPIONI

Marketing Associate

Sam is a performer, teacher, and director based in Raleigh, NC. She graduated from East Carolina University with a double BFA in Musical Theatre and Theatre Education. Some onstage credits include Mamma Mia (Ensemble/Sophie U.S.), Pippin (Ensemble), and Ghost: The Musical (Subway Ghost). In addition, Sam was an actor in CATG’s Carolina Playwrights Lab staged reading of 1999 by Stacey Isom Campbell, where she portrayed the character Teresa. She currently works as a part-time teaching artist for Vault Theatre in Durham, and for the Town of Cary. Sam has a passion for bringing communities together through the arts, and is thrilled to be working with a company that is committed to doing just that!

Carolina Playwrights Lab Selections Process Manager

Kevin (he/him) is a performer/writer/director in the Triangle theatre community. A former US Navy sailor and trained chef, he discovered a passion for theatre later in life. He has been seen around the Triangle in productions such as Dial M for Murder (NC State TheatreFest) and 26 Pebbles (The Justice Theater Project). When not making theatre, Kevin can usually be found as an audience member, whether it be for theatrical works, stand-up comedy, or local baseball games.

Lisette Glodowski - Songwriters Sandbox Coordinator

LISETTE GLODOWSKI

Education Coordinator

Lisette is an award-winning composer-lyricist, actor, choreographer and educator. She has performed on stages coast to coast, written numerous musicals and plays, choreographed for regional houses, coached many broadway singers, and earned her MFA at The Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Current writing credits with long term collaborator Richard C. Walter: Madame Clicquot: A Revolutionary Musical –– World Premiere at Pittsburgh CLO, Studio Cast Recording, The sold-out concert at The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, NYC Industry Readings and more–– Tambora: The Lost Kingdom (Industry Reading at NYU) and songwriters of an upcoming musical film, title to be announced soon. Lisette’s other shows in development include Velvet Over Steel, The Adventures of Atalanta, Much A Cruise About Nothing, Starving Artist: A Song Cycle, Call Me Coppelia and more. These local leaders in the theatre community who support new work and help shape CTW’s direction.

Susan Shank, Board President at Carolina Theatre Workshop

SUSAN SHANK

President

Susan Shank originally hails from Arkansas where she earned her undergraduate degrees in Musical Theatre and Elementary Education, as well as her Masters Degree in Teaching. She spent almost a decade in New York City, where she worked for producer Robyn Goodman, assisting with the promotion of the shows Avenue Q, Bat Boy, and Tick, Tick…Boom! She went on to serve as Company Liaison for Manhattan Theatre Club, acting as the bridge between the administrative office and front of house/subscriber base for the second largest not for profit theatre in New York City. It was there she formed lasting, working relationships with artists such as Jason Robert Brown, Emily Skinner, Bill Russell, and solidified her love for new works in the theatre. Since arriving in the Triangle, Susan has jumped into the arts scene with great enthusiasm, often being jokingly referred to as the “Mayor of Raleigh Theatre.” She also occasionally sings, dances, and acts for fun.

Mike McGee is a Raleigh based Actor and Director having worked with theatres across the Triangle. Mike was one of the first members to join the Board at Carolina Theatre Workshop. He is also a member of the Board of Directors at North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theatre and the Past President of the Raleigh Little Theatre Board of Directors. By day he is a Software Sales Executive for IBM.
Thao Nguyen, Board Treasurer at Carolina Theatre Workshop

Thao is a Director/Producer/Actor/Singer who is comfortable on both the operatic and musical theatre stage. Thao is acclaimed by critics for a “velvety baritone and ease and grace on stage.” Notable Performances: Off Broadway/Regional – Tropical AngelsMiss SaigonShrek25th Annual…South Pacific, and Pippin, in which Thao was voted “Best Performer in a Musical-Professional” BroadwayWorld CT. An active film/tv/commercial actor, you can catch Thao on many of your streaming platforms and in the feature film “Mister Fun” and “Night Terrors: Blood date on Trade St” along with many national commercials. Hazel Edmond, Board Member at Carolina Theatre Workshop

HAZEL EDMOND

Board Member

Hazel Edmond is a Raleigh Based Actor who performs throughout the region. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Georgia Southern University and has worked with some amazing artists throughout the triangle. As a voice-over talent, she has had the opportunity to lend her voice to training videos and radio. Hazel served on the Board of Directors at Raleigh Little Theatre and currently serves on the Board of Directors with the United Arts Council.
