ALMOST LIKE A DANCE:

A NEW, UNLIKELY DANCE-ROMANCE

June 15 – 27, 2026

Raleigh, North Carolina

About Almost Like A Dance

The creative team behind this new musical includes Tony-Nominated Singer/Songwriter Edie Brickell (BRIGHT STAR) & her Heavy MakeUp Band - CJ Camerieri & Trever Hagen, Broadway Playwright Sandy Rustin (THE COTTAGE, CLUE), and Award-Winning & Drama Desk Nominee Broadway Director/Choreographer Josh Rhodes (SPAMALOT, BEAU THE MUSICAL).

Almost Like A Dance is set against the unlikely backdrop of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, in the spring of 1998. Following two families with different backgrounds, this musical tells a story of the push and pull between duty and family, the intoxicating pull of first love, and seeks to remind us that our shared humanity can be greater than our inherited divides.

In collaboration with Theatre Raleigh, CTW will provide the tools and resources to support the ongoing development of this new musical over the course of two weeks. Presentations of this staged reading will take place on June 26th @ 7:30 pm & June 27th @ 3pm, at the De Ann S. Jones Theatre at Theatre Raleigh Arts Center.
Tickets will be made available May 25th!
