The National Music Theater Foundry is CTW’s premier program for developing new musicals. Open to writers nationwide, it provides the tools, resources, and professional setting needed to bring original stories to life.

Writing teams gain valuable feedback from both professional panelists and audiences, supporting an ongoing process of development, revision, and discovery.

PROGRAM DETAILS

The selected piece will receive the following: 

Rehearsal Process

Two weeks of in-person rehearsal facilities with printers available for live edits

Creative team

A seasoned Director, Dramaturg, Stage Manager, Music Director, and qualified cast

Technical Support

Basic technical capabilities, with a sound designer and a lighting designer

Public Readings

Two staged readings for the public in a local venue

Industry Feedback

Three panelists provide moderated critique after each presentation and provide guidance in script and music editing

Compensation

$2,000, plus housing
